Q. Why do you use the stones that you do?
A. This question has been asked in many forms, such as “Why can’t you use all smooth stones?” Or “Can I have that necklace made with different stones?”
Effectiveness and affordability are critical in my approach to helping others. For each layout I create, much consideration, research, and testing goes into determining which combination of stones will hold and effectively deliver the support that a particular layout is designed to provide. I create variations of style when I can, based on the stones that are available, and those options are shown on the website. Though some of you may prefer to have ‘prettier’ stones, for the most part the more primitive looking stones are more effective. So while I strive for symmetry and aesthetically pleasing designs, effectiveness is much more important in my work.
Sharing
Q. Can I share my layouts with friends or family members?
A. The ONLY layouts that can be shared are the Pain Relief Necklaces or Bracelets that are all Fluorite, the Chakra Strand, the Shame Strand, the Black Fly and Mosquito Necklaces that are regional to VT, NH, MA, and NY, the No-See-Ums Necklace, and the Ticks Necklace. Please be sure to recharge them after each person wears them so that they can be effective for the next person to wear them. ALL OTHER LAYOUTS SHOULD NOT BE SHARED. The layouts work by tuning into you and work specifically with your energy. If you share them with someone else, they are then trying to tune into two different energies and will become overworked very quickly. They may break easily, and will likely be less effective because they are trying to do double duty. If the layout has been worn even once (other then just trying it on for size), it will already be tuned into the wearer. Note: Recharging Stations and Selenite can be shared.
Necklace Clasps
Q. My necklace clasp keeps coming loose. What's up?
A. There are two reasons the screw-type necklace clasps come undone. One is that the necklace needs to be recharged, and the energy that is struggling to move through it loosens the clasp. Simply recharge your necklace and then you can wear it again and the clasp will hold. The second is that sometimes when a necklace takes a negative energy hit, or is severely overworked, the clasp will blow out, rather than the necklace breaking. The way to tell the difference: If you can screw the clasp together and it seems to hold tightly together, the necklace needs to be recharged. If you screw the clasp together and it loosens immediately, or comes apart very easily, then the clasp is blown out. In some instances just a new clasp can be put on. But generally the clasp blows because there is already a weak spot in the wire, so the necklace must be restrung and reprogrammed.
Q. Can I put a different kind of clasp on my necklace, like a lobster claw or magnetic clasp?
A. No, please do not put a magnetic clasp on your necklace! Magnets can be disruptive to the flow of energy from your layouts, causing them to work much harder, and break much more easily. Please keep your layouts away from magnets. ALSO, there is a reason that I use the kind of clasps that I do - screw-type clasps, or toggle clasps. Because the necklaces are moving energy through the stones to serve you, they must be able to fall off if they are being overworked, so that they don't feedback on you.The screw-type and toggle clasps allow this to happen. Any other type of clasp does not. If your necklace clasp is coming undone, it means the necklace needs to be recharged or that the clasp has blown out from an energy hit and the necklace needs to be repaired.
Q. Why is there so much Hematite in your layouts? Is it too much?
A. Be assured, you will not receive an overdose of Hematite energy when you wear Elemental Stone Therapies layouts. In most layouts the Hematite is not there for the healing properties it can provide, but for its ability to run the programs that I create. It moves the energy through the other stones. I create only a few layouts that do not have Hematite, and those have very simple programs. The more complex programs, which allow me to do much more with a single layout, require the Hematite.
Q. I have heard that healing stones work for some people and not others.
A. I invite and welcome all types of feedback on my work, and after 8 years, I am aware of only limited situations in which my wearable stone layouts have not been helpful. They are:
1. A layout is purchased by someone else for a person who hasn't requested it and isn't ready for that healing process to move forward.
2. A layout is purchased and not worn (again may suggest the person is not ready for the healing benefit)
3. A person has been talked into buying a layout by someone, and neither of them have sufficiently explored what the real issue is.
4. A person has been talked out of wearing a layout by someone who isn't familiar with my work or doesn't understand how it works.
Please do not feel pressured either way. Buy and wear the layouts if you are drawn to them. They will serve you as they can.
Q. I have some jewelry-making supplies. Is it okay if I restring or re-size my layout?
A. No. Unfortunately, if the wire or elastic is cut or broken, the program contained within the layout is lost, and the layout will not work as intended. When I repair a layout, I restring it and reprogram it for you. One Exception: If you have one of the long Pain Relief Necklaces that is strung on fishing line and it breaks, you can restring it on 20 lb. or 30 lb. fishing line, repeating the pattern as well as you can (it doesn't have to be perfect). Then send an email to me telling me that you have restrung the necklace. I will reprogram it long distance at no charge to you.
Q. I have Arthritis and Insomnia. Can you make one layout that will help me with both of those issues?
A. No, I cannot combine Arthritis and Insomnia into one layout. The programs in these layouts are large, and would not combine well. Generally I cannot combine two or more existing layouts into one. The programs that I put into most layouts are all that the stones can handle. If I added anything more, the layouts and/or the stones would break very quickly under the strain of trying to do too much. A good example is the bug necklaces. Even though it would be great if they were all combined into one, I have to produce separate ones for Black Flies/Deer Flies, Mosquitoes/Horse Flies, and Ticks. I made several attempts to combine them but the necklaces would not work properly. There are some rare exceptions to combining, one of them being the Broken Heart Back Pain necklace which combines the programs from the Broken Heart necklace and the Back Pain necklace for those whose broken heart issues cause them back pain.
Q. Why do some layouts only come as a necklace or an anklet, and others I have a choice of necklace, bracelet or anklet?
A. For each layout, I must determine where on the body the layout will function to serve you best. Sometimes only a necklace will do - as in Thyroid, where it needs to be near the thyroid gland itself. Or only a necklace will do because of the number of stones required to carry the program. For some layouts, only an anklet will do, as in the Knee Pain anklets or Hemorrhoids anklets. Other layouts are only in bracelet form because the layout works well near the heart or core of your body. There are also a few instances where I make only a bracelet because it would be too expensive to produce a necklace. In those cases, a custom necklace could be made for those willing to pay the extra cost. Sometimes the layout can be effective as either a necklace, bracelet or anklet, so I make all three. Always, though, a necklace will provide more assistance. For those who don't prefer necklaces but feel they need more help, wearing 2 bracelets, or 2 anklets, or 1 of each at the same time will provide close to the same level of assistance as a necklace.
Q. Why do some layout write-ups not list the stones?
A. When I list the stones used in a layout, it is because those stones have healing properties that contribute to the working of the layout, and I chose them based on that. I list the stones as a courtesy. When I don't list the stones, it is because it is not the properties of the individual stones that are important. What is important is the vibrational frequency of the combination of stones utilized, and the way they accept the programming that I create.
Q. Can I wash my layouts?
A. Yes you can wash them, and it's a good idea to do so periodically. Sweat, body oils, and any oils or lotions you use on your body can accumulate on the beads and impact their ability to hold and move the program energy. Washing them in a little hot soapy water now and then can make a real difference. Or wear them into the shower. Be sure to rinse them with clear water, and pat dry with a towel or let air dry.
Q. What does it mean when someone keeps "losing" layouts or they break?
A. Layout loss or breakage often means that the layout is not being recharged enough for the amount of use it is getting. Some people need to recharge more than once a day, because they work their layouts very hard. Occasionally, someone will lose a layout because intellectually they thought they were ready for it, but emotionally they are resisting and rejecting the healing process. Their illness/condition may still be serving a purpose that they don't yet understand. I can only encourage and support healing, I cannot override the tremendous power of fear that says NO. I can help with fear, but it must be addressed directly through layouts that gently release it. Some clients have to do that first, then they can go on to the condition-specific work.
Recharging
Q. Is it possible to over-charge my layouts?
A. The simple answer is no, they will absorb as much light as they can, and be ready when you need them. I live in the Northeast, and leave mine on a windowsill whenever I am not wearing them, sometimes for days at a time. HOWEVER, if you leave your layouts in direct sunlight in temperatures well over 80 degrees, the stones may get quite hot, causing the elastic or wire to overheat and become brittle, making it more likely to break. In very hot, direct sunlight, it is wise to recharge your layouts for just one hour.
Q. My layouts don't seem to be recharging quickly on my windowsill.
A. If you have double or triple pane windows that block UV light, the layouts may not recharge properly, or may take much longer to recharge. Try putting them outside in the direct sunlight or moonlight, or open the window and recharge on the window sill. Many people utilize the Elemental Stone Therapies Recharging Station, a piece of specially prepared granite or marble that absorbs the light then recharges the layouts when you place them upon it (See the Miscellaneous Page). The Recharging Station is especially helpful for those who live in areas where there are few sunny days (like Vermont winters!).
Q.Do the bracelets/necklaces have to physically touch the Recharging Station or can they be piled on top of one another and still re-charge?
A. They can be loosely piled on top of each other - not too big a mound - 5 or 6 deep should be okay. if you have a big pile it may take them longer to recharge, or the ones on top may not fully recharge. You could also turn the pile once or twice.
Q. I left my necklace on the dashboard of my car to recharge, but it fell off shortly after I put it on, as if it needed to be recharged. What happened?
A. Automobile windshields block UV light, so without the full spectrum of light, the layout may not fully recharge.
Q. I was around some really negative, slime-y people, and now my layouts don't seem to be recharging properly. What can I do?
A. It is my experience that people who have a lot of light are apt to get slimed now and then. Just as kind, loving people are drawn to your light, so are less than desirable people/energies. Sometimes you can sense it, sometimes not. One way to describe it is as a slime-y, sticky residue of the negative energy that someone has been slinging around. It can come from physical or nonphysical beings. Being around negative people/situations can also leave a residue on your layouts that makes it harder for them to recharge. When that happens, or if your layouts don't seem to be recharging well, you can use a Selenite Wand or large chunk of selenite as an eraser to clean up the energy of the layout (and your own energy field as well). I frequently have Selenite Wands available that I enhance to serve you in this way. (See the Miscellaneous Page).
Q. Is it okay to leave my layouts in the sunlight or moonlight for long periods of time?
A. Absolutely! You can recharge your layouts for as long as you want. They can never be over-charged. My layouts live on the windowsill when I'm not wearing them. Caution: Don't leave your layouts in the sunlight for long periods if the temperature is over 80 degrees, or if it is bitterly cold, as this can have a negative impact on the elastic or wire.
Q. I have two of the same necklace that I alternate wearing. I am finding they need to be recharged around every twelve hours. If I go to a very public place where there are a lot of people, I need to wear both of them. Is this unusual?
A. What you're describing is well within the range of what I see with individuals who very much need the pieces they utilize. I have one client who has some pieces that she works so hard they have to be recharged 2 or 3 times a day. Another example: I have serious chemical sensitivities, I wear a Multiple Chemical Sensitivity necklace whenever I go out of my house, and usually that is enough. But when I go to a place where there is a crowd of people wearing perfumes, colognes, or scented hair products, or where there is a great deal of out-gassing, I wear a necklace, a bracelet, AND an anklet. There is a limit to the amount of programming I can put into one layout, so sometimes wearing more than one, or recharging the one you wear more often, is required.
A. This question has been asked in many forms, such as “Why can’t you use all smooth stones?” Or “Can I have that necklace made with different stones?”
